Our Story

Nestled in the charming town of Spring City, Utah, Das Café is a beloved local restaurant that has become a cornerstone of the community since its establishment in 2011. Founded by sisters Caroline Lott and Katy Harmer, Das Café was born out of a shared passion for cooking and a deep appreciation for their German heritage. The sisters sought to create a welcoming space where people could come together to enjoy delicious, homemade food inspired by traditional German recipes and American flavors.

The journey of Das Café began with a simple dream: to bring the comforting tastes of their childhood to their hometown. Caroline and Katy dedicated themselves to perfecting their recipes, using fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure that every dish reflects their commitment to authenticity and flavor. From bratwurst and sauerkraut to fluffy Belgian waffles, each menu item tells a story of family traditions and culinary exploration.

As word spread about the café’s unique offerings and warm atmosphere, Das Café quickly gained a loyal following. The sisters became known not only for their delicious food but also for their commitment to fostering a sense of community. They began hosting events and workshops, such as the “Pickling Veggies by Fermentation” workshop, which educated attendees on the benefits and techniques of fermentation, and Heritage Days, celebrating the rich history of Spring City.

Over the years, Das Café has continued to evolve, adapting to the needs and desires of its customers while staying true to its roots. The café remains a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, offering a cozy environment where friendships are forged over hearty meals and shared experiences. Today, Das Café stands as a testament to the sisters’ dedication, hard work, and love for their community, proving that a passion for food and a commitment to connection can create something truly special. Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or a special event, Das Café invites you to join their story and experience the warmth and flavor that have made it a cherished part of Spring City.
